Love for the Divine through Sacred Text and Song

Start: Friday 1st of February 2013 12:00:06 AM
End: Monday 11th of February 2013 12:00:08 AM
Location: First Christian Church, Oak Street, Eugene, OR, Eugene, US
Interfaith Prayer Service International provides a special occasion to pray for peace, cherish our loved ones, reflect upon the interconnectedness of all beings, and to uplift our hearts and minds in a safe environment for all. We bring together different faith communities in the spirit of harmony and growing appreciation, while nurturing confidence on the universal power of love and unity for all. February's service featured presenters from different faiths including Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Baha'i, Hindu and others. Over 150 community members gathered in First Christian Church in downtown Eugene, OR to pray for peace and celebrate the common themes of love for the divine through sacred text and song in their faith traditions. We continue to promote peace and harmony within our community by holding these services on the 11th of every month. We believe that by praying together and learning more about different faiths, we come to recognize the common threads that connect us all. *We would like to send you a video of the event, but the application does not load with the video, so please let us know if we can email it to you separately. Thank you.

Launching and Covenant Signing

Start: Thursday 31st of January 2013 12:00:14 AM
End: Thursday 31st of January 2013 12:00:19 AM
Location: Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines, Zamboanga City, PH
Launching and Signing of the Covenant This activity is a celebration of the beginning of the World Interfaith Harmony Week in Zamboanga City. It’s a symbol of unity and solidarity to inspire us to move forward to popularize the World Interfaith Harmony Week 2013 as declared by the United Nations. We also invite the prospective local political candidates and the leaders of different communities to translate interfaith into our actions, intentions and words. As the local election will be on March 2013. The candidates we prayed over by the attendees and the religious leaders we were present during the occasion like the priest, imams, and the Buddhist monk. The Prayer for the Candidates Almighty God, you have called each of us to a specific role in life. Fathers and mothers to be the leaders in the family; priests and imams and monks to be leaders in our religious practice; teachers to be leaders in the schools; and political leaders in our exercise of our duties and our expectations as citizens of our country. Almighty God, you have planted in us the seed of freedom in the exercise of our political rights. It is our belief, Almighty God, that your will is expressed when the will of the people is allowed free and unhampered expressions. We pray, Lord God that in the campaign for the upcoming election the candidates will speak the truth, that they will not attempt to exploit the circumstances of voters so as to gain advantage for themselves, that they will seek to conduct a peaceful campaign that will allow the full exercise of freedom of choice by the voters. And when the winners shall have been identified, Lord God, we pray that they will affirm their victories as your call to them to serve you and your people – serve devotedly, serve diligently and serve generously. We pray that you shower them with grace that they may serve you and your people well for the many responsibilities that will be theirs. Hewing to your love and example, nothing is impossible. AMEN The candidates and the attendees also signed a covenant. COVENANT We aspire for a world where God is the ultimate authority and is loved, respected and served; … where every person is recognized as a creature of God and deserving of respect in being one; … where the bounties of God’s creation are equitably shared; …where service to and for others is considered as a privilege and is treasured; We look at our talents and treasures as gifts from the loving God to be used in service to others and the promotion of the common good. We consider ourselves as stewards over the wealth of the earth and hold ourselves responsible for safeguarding this patrimony of future generations. We believe that our stewardship calls us to continuously strive and discern God’s will in the exercise of our duties and responsibilities. We submit ourselves to God’s wisdom in allowing different religions to prosper in our world and we will live in peace and harmony with people who follow faith traditions different from those we belong to. We pray that God gives us the strength to be true and faithful to these affirmations. The gathering was attended by almost 200 people. We were happy and inspire by the response of the attendees.
