What helps you feel connected to someone whose life, beliefs, or background is very different from your own?
World Interfaith Harmony Week is a UN-recognized observance that highlights the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation among people of all faiths and beliefs. It invites communities worldwide to reflect, connect, and act in ways that strengthen peace and social cohesion. URI, as a network, and many of its members across the world celebrate WIHW in the first week of February.
This year, URI is choosing depth over speed. Instead of fast content and quick reactions, we are opening space for intentional online conversations through daily prompts on the URI Connect app—inviting reflection, listening, and shared learning.
Today, members from across our global network reflected on what creates connection across difference. Their responses pointed to values that transcend tradition and geography.
Members spoke about:
✨Love of self and love of others as inseparable
✨Deep listening as a pathway to empathy
✨Human dignity and equal worth
✨Unity in diversity as a source of strength
✨Creation stories as reminders of shared origin and shared responsibility
✨Compassion, humility, and openness as bridges between people
Across all reflections, one message stood out clearly:
Connection grows when we choose to listen, honor difference, and recognize our shared humanity.
Now we invite you to join the conversation in the comments below

One day. One question. Many voices.
This is how interfaith harmony is practiced through CONNECTION.
