1. Activities and Results The Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC) and Inter-Religious Council (IRC) Indonesia have been organizing The World Interfaith Harmony Week in Indonesia since 2011. As the Document on Human Fraternity, which shares the same spirits and principles, was signed and launched in 2019, this year WIHW celebration was also commemorating the International Day of Human Fraternity. The celebration brought together religious leaders, interfaith groups, students, politicians, government officials, foreign diplomats, and media workers. Among the government official presented was the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly who also gave a speech. And among the foreign diplomats, there was Ambassador of Russian Federation to Indonesia. The round-table seating arrangement enables participants of various religions and background to dialogue, share their experiences, and enjoy the performances together. Activities have been done at the celebration were as follows: • Cultural Performances from Inter-religious Students’ Choir The event opened by the performance of 60 inter-religious students, conducted by an Indonesian prominent composer and activist, Mr. Dwiki Dharmawan. The beautiful performance of singing Indonesian folk songs, wearing various traditional clothes, has awakened a sense of togetherness, gratitude for the brotherhood, and unity in diversity. • Inter-religious Prayers Six religious leaders (Islam, Catholicism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism) consecutively led prayers for their adherents. Beautifully, the prayers offered were humanitarian prayers that originate from the teachings of each religion. • Messages from Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb of al-Azhar, Pope Francis of Catholic Church, and Secretary General of Religions for Peace As the Declaration “Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” is a new initiative, it is important to introduce the values and principles of Human Fraternity to a wider audience in Indonesia, especially students, artists, politicians and government officials, while revitalizing the spirit of the "Common Word". Therefore, this commemoration presented video messages from Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb as well as the Secretary General of Religions for Peace, Prof. Azza Karam. • Messages from Six Religious Leaders of Indonesia, moderated by Honorary President of IRC- Indonesia There were peace messages delivered by religious council’s leaders, member of IRC- Indonesia: Prof. Syafiq A, Mughni (Muhammadiyah, Islam), Prof. Yahya Cholil Staquf (Nahdlatul Ulama, Islam), Rev. Gomar Gultom (Council of Churches in Indonesia, Christianity), Father Siswantoko (Bishops’ Conference of Indonesia, Catholicism), Major General Wisnu Bawa Tenaya (Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia, Hinduism), Prof. Dr. Philip K. Widjaja (Indonesian Buddhist Association, Hiduism), Sx. Budi Santoso Tanuwibowo (Supreme Council for Khonghucu Religion in Indonesia, Confucianism). The session was moderated by the Honorary President of IRC-Indonesia and Chairman of CDCC, Prof. Dr. M. Din Syamsuddin, who was initiated the event. Prof. Din Syamsuddin emphasized, this event is an official United Nations agenda that aims to campaign for the importance of awareness of harmonious interfaith life. The event was also a means for bringing together interfaith leaders in dealing with various social and national issues. The speakers invited all religious communities to increase mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among human beings through humanitarian works, preserving the environment, and maintaining peace in next year's elections. Despite of sharing common values, they appreciated the “Common Word” initiative as well as the signing of the Document of Human Fraternity and committed to support its implementation. • Performances by Indonesian Singers Singers with different religious background performed songs with the theme of pluralism, brotherhood, and peace. They have a magnet to attract the public to watch the whole event. This event has impacted to the increasing of awareness people of religious or non-religious communities on the importance of living in harmony and working together in humanity. With collaboration with the politicians and government officials, the event has impacted to the awareness at the government level to be more active in promoting dialogue and cooperation and supporting the works of interfaith groups. In broader level, the event has impacted people to maintain interfaith dialogue and cooperation and to create new joint initiatives for humanity. 2. Partners and Cooperation One of the most important things in organizing WIHW is maintaining cooperation and partnerships with many parties involved, as at the preparation stage, all parties involved often get together, work together, and visit each other. This year event was co-organized by the eight religious councils in Indonesia, under the chairmanship of Council of Churches in Indonesia. The Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly gave valuable supports with its place and facilities. One of the biggest television companies, Surya Citra Media (SCTV and Indosiar) took part in arranging and airing the event in its TV channel. All partners contributed voluntarily to the success of this event. 3.
