Documentary Film ‘Religions in Mauritius’

On the 10th February 2021, Council of Religions (CoR) launches its documentary film, ‘Religions in Mauritius’. The film was produced by CoR, with the support of Mauritius Development Film Corporation (MFDC). The event was hosted at the Mciné Theater at the Trianon Mall, Trianon and was attended by representatives from the Government, Diplomatic Corps, Mayors from various Municipalities, President of Village Councils, a range of local corporate representatives, the Director of the Mauritius Tourism Authority, The General Secretary of the NSIF, Representative of UoM, Representative of the Media Trust, Chairpersons of Cultural Centres, Representative of Resorts and Hotels, Managers of Colleges, Students, Faith Leaders, Religious Leaders of different Religions, well-wishers, media organizations, etc.. The hall got fully packed well before the starting time. In his opening remarks. After the speeches of Mr. Sachin Jeetun and Father Goupille, the President of the Republic His Excellency, Mr. Pritvirajsing ROOPUN made a remarkable talk and encouraged CoR in its endeavour to disseminate Interfaith dialogue and National Unity and Peace building activities. Thereafter, he proceeded at the official launching of the documentary film. The film features the different period of the settlement of slaves, labourers and workers in Mauritius from different areas of Africa and Asia, and highlights the hard experiences borne by our ancestors, yet they attempted every endeavour to keep alive their faith. The film will be distributed freely to all schools, Colleges, Tourist Resorts and Hotels, Corporates, Municipal and Villages, Airports, etc…
