On the 23rd of February 2020, The Hive held an Interfaith Archery event for females in celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week.  The females who participated came from a mixture of cultural and religious backgrounds. We had Muslims, Christians and Atheists as well as females from the LGBT community and a partially sighted female.
Everyone had fun learning the basic techniques of archery and then went on to participate in some archery games and competitions which bought out the competitive side in everyone. This was a great way for everyone to bond and have fun whilst learning a new skill. The event created a real sense of comradery amongst those involved.
At the end of the event we had arranged for some light refreshments where the group got to know each other a little bit more and bonded further. We spoke about our respective faiths and beliefs and how this shapes our everyday lives and helps us overcome obstacles in life. It was very interesting hearing other people’s experiences and perspectives and the females commented on how this event enabled them to meet and get to know people they may not have otherwise encountered in their daily lives. This event encouraged females from the community to get to know each other, understand each others faiths and beliefs and develop new friendships, whilst also learning a new skill in a fun environment, thus promoting community cohesion and harmony alongside creating new levels of understanding and opportunities within the female community which is a prime objective of The Hive.
As a result of this we had established an interfaith archery group which will meet once a month for archery, conversation, food and friendship.
