The goal of The Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Conference of Churches, in our day of support for members of the Oklahoma Muslim community, is to provide a large, diverse, and welcoming group of proud Oklahoma citizens at our state Capitol.
We will offer encouragement and help as attendees enter the Capitol grounds for their morning of activities, as well as through their day that will end in prayer and visitation to state officers. Some volunteers may be asked to help with the particular needs of the community such as escorting groups into the building or providing assistance to leaders of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) who have organized the event.
Duties during volunteer day will be first and foremost to be a welcoming group outside the Capitol steps until approximately 10 am, and then to help with arranging and directing community attendees to the right place inside the Capitol rotunda. Members of CAIR Oklahoma will also ask for volunteers at different times to help with set up, lunch preparation, clean up and support during afternoon prayers.
We hope you will be willing to help as needed during your allotted time.
