The Pakistan Peoples Party Human Rights Cell on Wednesday extended warm greetings to citizens as a series of significant religious and cultural occasions converge this week, calling the moment a reflection of Pakistan’s diverse and pluralistic social fabric.
In a statement, the party’s human rights wing noted that the observance of Ash Wednesday, the sacred month of Ramazan Sharif, the celebration of Chinese New Year, and the Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri falling in close proximity underscores the richness of the country’s cultural and religious landscape.
The cell said each occasion carries a message of reflection, renewal, sacrifice, gratitude, and hope, adding that together they reinforce shared values of humanity, compassion, and mutual respect across communities.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, brotherhood, and harmony, the organization stated that the spiritual essence of Ramazan, the solemn reflection associated with Ash Wednesday, the devotion displayed during Maha Shivratri, and the joy of Chinese New Year should serve as a catalyst for strengthening unity and promoting understanding among all segments of society.
Secretary General Malaika Raza, in her message, prayed for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for the country during these sacred days and expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to serve as a symbol of interfaith harmony and tolerance.
She also urged the government, civil society, and religious and cultural groups to use the occasion to promote dialogue, encourage tolerance, and work collectively toward a more inclusive society.
Separately, Secretary Information Tariq Mahmood Ghouri said the week serves as a reminder that Pakistan’s strength lies in its unity and diversity. He extended felicitations to the Hindu community on Maha Shivratri and expressed solidarity in celebrating faith, devotion, and peace.
The PPP Human Rights Cell reiterated its call for national unity, encouraging citizens to respect one another’s religious and cultural traditions and to work together for a more peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
