World Interfaith Harmony Week 2025 Successfully Celebrated in Kolkata, India Kolkata, India – March 2, 2025 The spirit of interfaith unity and harmony was celebrated in Kolkata, India, during a special Interfaith Talk Show held in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) 2025. This event was hosted by Mili Dass, International Post Coordinator, A Better Community for All (Canada–India), and brought together distinguished guests and participants from various backgrounds to promote peace and understanding. The Guest of Honor, Rev. Yuel Bhatti, Founder and President of A Better Community for All (Canada–India), opened the session with a video message, reflecting on the significance of WIHW. He highlighted that WIHW was initiated in 2010 by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and later recognized by the United Nations. Since then, this global observance has been celebrated annually in February (1st–7th), with extended activities continuing throughout the month. Rev. Bhatti commended Mili Dass for her dedication to interfaith activities over the past three years, primarily through virtual events. This year marked a significant milestone as she successfully organized an in-person gathering in India with her colleagues. Key Highlights and Reflections The discussion featured insights from esteemed participants, including: Karris Gomez: Emphasized the fundamental principle of loving God and loving one’s neighbor, stating that true love and peace come from treating everyone as a child of God. Meon Francis: Spoke about the connection between faith, love, and service, stressing that acts of love strengthen ethical behavior, community bonds, and shared humanity across cultures. Ushani Gomez: Contributed to the dialogue on the importance of interfaith cooperation and the role of compassion in fostering global peace. A New Chapter for Interfaith Activities in India This was the first time WIHW was formally observed in Kolkata, marking a historic step for interfaith dialogue in India. As Coordinator of A Better Community for All (Canada–India), Mili Dass expressed her commitment to continuing interfaith activities both in-person and via virtual platforms to engage a wider audience. Rev. Yuel Bhatti reaffirmed his support for such initiatives, recognizing them as powerful tools for peacebuilding and unity in an increasingly diverse world. Looking Ahead With the success of this event, A Better Community for All (Canada–India) aims to expand its interfaith efforts by hosting similar gatherings, fostering dialogue, and promoting mutual respect among faith communities. This celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week 2025 in Kolkata stands as a testament to the power of understanding, love, and cooperation in building a more harmonious world.
