The Centre for Interfaith Understanding (CIFU)

CIFU is honoured to host a dinner discussion with renowned German theologian and interfaith scholar, Senior Professor Perry Schmidt-Leukel from Universität Münster, Germany. During the dinner discussion, Professor Perry shared about his personal journey into interfaith and challenges he faced in his early beginnings as a scholar of religion. These experiences shaped his thinking, leading to the fractal method he developed in the field of comparative theology and the study of religious diversity. There was also a discussion on the diverse traditions within each religion, issues of sectarianism, and ecumenical work as another dimension to interfaith practice. In attendance were CIFU members, and special guests: Geshe Lobsang Yonten (Resident Teacher, Tibetan Buddhist Centre); Ms. Wee Nee (President, Tibetan Buddhist Centre); Prof Hoon Chang Yau (Director of International Office, Singapore University of Social Sciences); and Mr Zulhaqem Zulkifli (scholar of Buddhist Studies).
