A Guided Excursion: Interfaith Friendship Journey
As part of The World Interfaith Harmony Week, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Study of World Religions at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan will organize a guided excursion titled “Interfaith Friendship Journey” on February 6, 2025. This event is part of a series of activities scheduled from February 4 to February 8.This event is designed to provide students with an immersive interfaith learning experience by visiting key religious institutions in Tashkent. Participants will explore places of worship such as the Russian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church, and other religious centers, gaining firsthand insights into the diverse spiritual traditions and practices represented in Uzbekistan.
Purpose of the Event:
The Interfaith Friendship Journey aims to:
1. Foster understanding and mutual respect among students of different faiths.
2. Highlight Uzbekistan’s rich tradition of religious tolerance and interfaith harmony.
3. Provide an educational platform for students to learn about the beliefs, customs, and histories of various religious communities.
4. Encourage dialogue and build bridges of cooperation among young people from different backgrounds.
Structure of the Excursion:
- Visits to Religious Sites: Students will be guided by knowledgeable experts and religious representatives who will provide detailed explanations about the history, architecture, and spiritual significance of each institution.
