Deputy Culture Minister participates in World Interfaith Harmony Week

February 6, 2026Laman Ismayilova Within the World Interfaith Harmony Week, Azerbaijani delegation has participated in a high-level panel at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Azernews reports citing the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry. During the panel, the Deputy Culture Minister, Farid Jafarov, highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions to regional and global peace and stability under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He also emphasized the role of the “Baku Process” as a global platform for intercultural dialogue. UN marks first week of February as World Interfaith Harmony Week

February 3, 2026The first week of February (1–7 February) is observed annually by the United Nations as World Interfaith Harmony Week. The initiative was proposed at the UN General Assembly on 23 September 2010 by King Abdullah II of Jordan and was adopted unanimously on 20 October 2010. The initiative is rooted in the 2007 A Common Word project, which encouraged dialogue between Muslim and Christian leaders based on two shared fundamental commandments: love of God and love of one’s neighbour. These principles are regarded as essential and provide a solid theological foundation for mutual understanding and peace. Nigeria joins in global interfaith week, as First Lady calls for faith-fueled action in 2026

February 2, 2026  By Johnbosco Agbakwuru As Nigeria joins the world in celebrating Interfaith Harmony Week, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for unity among people of different faiths. World Interfaith Harmony Week is a United Nations-designated observance since 2010 that promotes dialogue across religions. For one, it’s the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week. We have a strong tie to this event: in 2019, the CTII were the joint recipients of its prize, for our “Prayers in the City” held in Elsies River (together with FHLM), a grassroots version of what had been a regular annual event. Secondly, we have launched a 2-month fundraising campaign “CTII Schools Project 2026” on the BackaBuddy platform in which we hope to enable our very successful Youth Interfaith Program (YIIP) to run this year.
