SUMMARY:World Interfaith Harmony Week
DESCRIPTION:TD\, a young Hindu woman from Mumbai\, shares this image of a laughing Buddha as an expression of her pluralism practice. She says\, "In all honesty\, I never really paid much attention to the little laughing Buddha statue in my house as a kid. To kid me\, it was just a little figure of a jolly pot-bellied man\, and I remember my mom telling me it was to bring happiness and good luck. I guess to my parents\, there was always some sort of peaceful/joyous feeling related to it as well. A little symbol of happiness and contentment. We've had this in our house for as long as I can remember\, as a little gift my parent’s friend had brought home after his trip to China-a special request from my parents. I personally think that the idea of having this statue in your home is quite nice- to bring happiness\, peace\, and prosperity within the house. And while I may not pay much mind\, there’s a certain feeling attached to the statue that seems to wash away the remains of negativity- something which I think is attached to the very beautiful idea that it brings happiness\, contentment\, luck\, etc."
