DPS principal conferred ‘Ambassador of Peace’ Award

New Delhi, Jan 16 (IBNS): D R Saini, the Principal of Delhi Public School (DPS), R K Puram was recently conferred with the prestigious ‘Ambassador of Peace’ Award on Jan 4, during the celebrations of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week 2014.

During the UN conference on 'Interfaith Harmony for Peace Building and Good Governance', the Award was presented to Saini amidst an august audience comprising the Member of Parliament (MP) - Rajya Sabha, Karan Singh and the President of Universal Peace Federation (UPF)-International, Thomas G.Walsh.

The UPF is a global network of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a world of peace centered on universal, spiritual and moral values.

Launched in 2001, 'Ambassadors for Peace' is a diverse network of peace leaders. They come from all walks of life representing many races, religions, nationalities, and cultures, committed to promoting reconciliation, overcoming barriers, and encouraging cooperation beyond traditional boundaries of religion, race, ethnicity, and nationality.

UPF and its network of 'Ambassadors for Peace' celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week each year, calling on people of faith for the well-being of communities and peace in the world.

For a school that promotes excellence in education and a global outlook, this award to Saini is a reflection of the school’s constant endeavour to promote harmonious and holistic development of its students, UPF officials asserted.
