Convenor Relations with Other Faiths
Uniting Church in Australia
Greetings to all in this special Week of World Interfaith Harmony.
On behalf of the Uniting Church in Australia and the Assembly Relations with Other Faiths Working Group, I commend this global initiative and urge people across the world to celebrate the religious and cultural diversity of their own communities.
As Christians, we are called to live in harmony with all people and contribute to a world of peace, justice and hospitality.
Initiatives like this provide a powerful opportunity to get to know one another better and realise how much we have in common.
In a world marred by division, fear and ignorance, it has never been more important to reach out across our different faith traditions.
When we come together, without agenda, without prejudice, we begin to see each other as we really are – brothers and sisters.
When we build friendships across our different faiths, we give hope to the world.
I encourage members of the Uniting Church in Australia to find ways to build interfaith harmony wherever you are.
The friendships we make will be transforming.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Michael Barnes
